Natural Wine Week Sicilian Wine Dinner
at Colterra Food and Wine
Sicily has more vineyards and grows more grapes than any other region in Italy. That’s a lot of quantity, but in recent years the excitement has been about the quality of Sicily’s wines. Producers there have started focusing on Sicily’s indigenous grape varieties (such as Grillo, Nero d’Avola, Frappato and the wonderful Nerello Mascalese that comes from the slopes of Mt. Etna); they’ve begun emphasizing the island’s unique climate and terroir; and many small, artisanal growers have made their mark, producing some of the best and most sought-after wines in the world. Among them are some of Sicily’s most iconic natural (i.e., organic, biodynamic, and/or sustainable) producers – Arianna Occhipinti, Romeo del Castello, Marco de Bartoli, and Tenuta la Favola – all of whose wines will be served at this magnificent multi-course dinner.
Josefa Concannon of Louis/Dressner Selections (importer and long-time champion of natural winemaking) will be on hand.
